RISE
RISE-Rural Immersion for Social Empowerment
RISE is a journey of self discovery and transformation through rural immersion which bring together 15 Youth from all across Kerala.
Due to Covind-19 outbreak and Lockdown, RISE-2020 was postponed to 2021.

WHY RISE
The 7-day residential program is an opportunity for the young minds who are searching for a platform to explore the world without limits and nurture their capacity through active community participation and engaging with elected representatives.
The first edition of RISE was hosted by Unnath Bharath Abhiyan (An initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development), IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research), Trivandrum. Vithura Gramapanchayath also partnered with RISE19.
The uniqueness of RISE lies in its objective of involving the youth in the governing process of a local self-government. The major objective of the program is to enable the youth in understanding the rural realities and work with the local panchayat in order to achieve their developmental goals.
PROCESS
The Process of RISE Comprises three stages.The overall programs designed in such a way that it covers the four intervention themes of The Gulmohar Foundation. The three stages align with the three layers of engagement of The Gulmohar Foundation. Given below are the three layers of RISE.
Creating communities
RISE bring together 15 Youth from across Kerala to an inclusive, non-judgemetal space
Connect with society
Facilitators of RISE, with the help of community leaders provide capacity development sessions to the participants. They observe, discuss and reflect challenges of the society through rural immersion.
active citizenship
RISE team work with local leaders and elected representatives of the community and contribute their skills and time and start their journey to become active citizens through active community participation
